Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026

We keep this simple: we collect the minimum information needed to respond to you and run our services, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Here's the detail.

Who we are

McGee Web Solutions is a web design and automation business based in Ireland. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@mcgeews.ie.

What we collect and why

  • Contact form. When you fill in our contact form we collect your name, email address, and message so we can respond to your enquiry.
  • Chat assistant. If you use the chat widget on this site, the messages you send are processed to generate replies. If you share contact details in the chat (such as your name and email), we keep them so we can follow up with you.
  • Email and phone. If you email or call us directly, we keep the correspondence for as long as we're dealing with your enquiry or working together.

We rely on legitimate interest (responding to enquiries about our services) and, where we go on to work together, performance of a contract as our legal bases. We only send marketing communications with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of trusted services to run this website and handle enquiries. They process data on our behalf under their own data-processing agreements:

  • Google (Gmail and Sheets) — enquiry notifications and our lead records.
  • n8n — the automation platform that routes your form submissions and chat messages.
  • Anthropic — the AI provider that generates the chat assistant's replies. Chat messages are sent to Anthropic's API to produce a response and are not used to train their models.
  • GitHub Pages — hosts this website. Like most web hosts, GitHub may log visitor IP addresses for security purposes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where required by law.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The chat widget stores a session identifier in your browser's local storage so your conversation holds together while you're on the page. That's it.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and client records for the duration of our work together plus any period required for tax and legal purposes. If you'd like your details removed sooner, just ask.

Marketing (SMS and email)

Where we run SMS or email marketing — for ourselves or on behalf of clients — we do so in line with GDPR and the Irish ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. 336/2011). That means messages are only sent to people who have opted in or who are existing customers entitled to be contacted, every message identifies the sender, and every message includes a simple way to opt out (reply STOP to SMS, or use the unsubscribe link in email). Opt-outs are honoured immediately and permanently.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data deleted ("right to erasure")
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these, email hello@mcgeews.ie and we'll respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's supervisory authority — though we'd appreciate the chance to sort things out directly first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged clearly on the site.

Questions about any of this? Email hello@mcgeews.ie — you'll be dealing directly with us, not a legal department.
